Jason Gonzalez (b. 1974, Philippines) is an artist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Jason's work is an investigation into the fragile interdependence between humanity and the natural systems that sustain all beings. Having survived the nine-foot floods of Typhoon Ondoy in 2009, he no longer views the landscape as a distant subject; he sees it as a powerful, living force capable of both devastating destruction and miraculous renewal.

He describes his process as a 'collaboration with nature.' Rather than using traditional brushes, he works primarily with organic debris—leaves, roots, and branches harvested from storm-felled trees. By using these found tools, Jason allows the landscape to dictate the marks on the canvas. This tactile engagement grounds his work in the physical reality of the climate forces that have shaped his life, transforming remnants of destruction into instruments of creation.

"Everyone and everything experiences a storm, one way or another. Through my paintings, I invite viewers into a quiet but urgent reflection on our relationship primarily with ourselves, and with the Earth. Each piece is a witness to the destruction I have seen, but more importantly, it is a testament to the possibility of healing. I aim to provoke a radical shift in how we inhabit this world, moving toward a way of living that honours the delicate threads that hold us all together."
